Coaching Con 22 Takeaways

Think Big, but Take Small Actions

Having a massive dream, vision, or mission to change yourself, your family, or the world is not enough.

Have you ever been so motivated that you committed to yourself that you were going to do something?

And then an hour later, a day later, or a week later when that motivation speech wore off you decided it was going to be too hard so you never even get started?

As I mingled with coaches, some of the things I heard were simply amazing. Lives were changed this past weekend. Generations to come will be on different paths because of the actions taken

One coach I talked with, David from Albuquerque, told me he was putting in his two week notice as soon as he got home.

Another coach, a teacher, walked on stage and cried as she declared she was going to retire herself from being a teacher despite being the breadwinner and mother of two children. Jason gave her a bunch of free shit (I can’t keep track of what he gave out to who at this point 😂) if she follows through, and I know she will. Shit, she’ll probably be on stage in 2023 talking about how she hit $50k months.

I CAN. I WILL.

Just One More

Ed Mylett talked about this on stage but the amazing part is I heard this from so many of the speaker’s stories.

You’re always just “one more away” from a life changing opportunity. Sadly, most people give up before they reach that point of opportunity. Success compounds. It’s the cumulation of thousands of “one mores” you do each and every day.

The hard part about compounding though, is you can’t see it until growth is parabolic. But if you only knew how close you were from grinding each and every day, then you wouldn’t give up.

Give Shit Away

I need to give more away. More free financial advice. Content isn’t enough, I need to find a way to give away as much as possible. I have an idea on how I’m going to do this. Stay tuned.

I did start small this weekend though. I was waiting in a short line at Starbucks and a coach hopped in line behind me, and without saying a word to him when the cashier asked “Anything else?” I replied, “Whatever my friend here is having” and so I bought him a coffee.

He was so happy, and so was I. And he said “I’ve always wanted to do that” and I replied, “so then do it”. I hope you did it pal, because it feels great.

Also, if that was you, reach out bc I’d love to connect.

Side note, my small act of kindness was nothing compared to some of the stories shared at the event. A coach bought another coach coffee randomly and in return she hopped on stage and announced she was buying him a VIP ticket to next year’s event!!

Jason Phillips paid for a coaches rent for the next 6 months so he could move closer to his child… he also gave out a lot of cash, an Oculus and PS5 games, a vacation, multiple VIP passes for next year, and probably a bunch of things I’m forgetting.

Honestly, I wouldn’t have believed it if I wasn’t there to see it. It was incredible.

The Power of Community

When you are in a room full of winners, you have no choice but to become a winner.

Success is contagious. The energy in that room was contagious. I still have it flowing through my veins as I type on this keyboard 3 days later.

I met so many amazing people this weekend. I walked into this event knowing very few people. One of my clients was there, multiple past podcast guests, and about 475 strangers.

I actually spent my 30th birthday with about 475 strangers. And it was amazing! One of the best birthdays I’ve ever had.

I thanked Jason for gifting me Alex Hormozi and Sal De Stefano on my birthday…

I feel like I left this weekend with 100 new friends and supporters. And they’ve gained a new cheerleader in me.

We can all change.

Mike Milner walked on stage and out comes his alter ego. Mike comes off as a man of few words, but his presence on the stage wouldn’t suggest that. He owns the stage through storytelling and humor.

One thing that really hit home was when Mike talked about his teacher telling him he sucked at writing in high school. Mine also told me that in 11th grade.

She looked me right in my eyes and said, “This paper flat out sucks”. And I was livid.

But she was right.

It really did suck. And she did me a huge favor that day. She lit a fire inside me that has kept burning to this day.

I truly believe she knew exactly what she was doing when she told me that too. Thanks Mrs. Donnelly.

Support from Your Loved Ones

I was so lucky to have my fiancée, Danielle, tag along for the trip. She hung by the pool most of the weekend but we’d catch up for lunch and dinners. During those times, she had enough interactions with the community to leave feeling inspired herself.

I was so grateful that she could see what I’ve been working on for the past 6-12 months building Assist FP. She sees the hard work I put in each day and feels the sacrifices, but for her to see the community I’m building was a feeling I can’t explain.

She will see me speak on that stage.

It was so cool to see how many people also had their loved ones there.

Jason opened the event by walking on stage with his beautiful daughter and letting us know that his mother was there watching him speak. Unfortunately, Jason’s dad recently passed and never got the chance to see him speak live. But man, he’d be fucking proud.

John Berardi doesn’t even do speaking gigs anymore, but he made an exception for Coaching Con 22 because his children had never seen him speak live before and this gave him that opportunity.

Ed Mylett mentioned that his daughter was there with him.

Jess & Melissa had family watching them speak live.

Steve’s wife and daughter showed up to watch him host the event.

I sat next to Matt from New Jersey who was there supporting his wife Michelle who is a coach. She won something on stage and you should have seen this man cheering her on. Amazing.

The reality is, we don’t get to achieve our goals without the support of our loved ones.

At dinner, my friend Farshad said something along the lines of, “the most successful relationships for entrepreneurs are the ones who are able to integrate their family/spouses into their business as much as possible”.

Let that sit with you.

In the meantime, keep growing my friends.
